SMASHBOX Gifted Me the Photo Finish Primers Collection

Hello everybody, it's me Heather, and Smashbox sent me this really lovely PR package. So, they sent me all five of their makeup primers.

If you don't know about Smashbox and Smashbox primers, well first off, Smashbox is the original. They really are. They were the first makeup brand to understand the concept of a makeup primer and bring that to market, so this is the original. It's a silicone-based makeup primer, and what primers do is they smooth the skin, fill in any fine lines and pores, so that when you apply makeup, it goes on completely smooth and evenly.

SMASHBOX The Original Smooth + Blur Primer is the OG of primers.

I love this primer. It feels so silky smooth. And now priming primers are so commonplace nobody really thinks about it, but this was the first, and this was the original. And I also, I could be wrong, but I really also feel like Smashbox was also the first brand to really come out with a variety of primers.

They recognized right away that not everyone could use the Original Photo Finish primer. For example, if you have oily skin, this may not be the best one for you since it is silicone-based. So, they did come out with, like, the mattifying one. Well, let me just go down the line.

SMASHBOX Primerizer+ Hydrating Primer feels like a moisturizer and works like a primer.

First, we got here, this is the hydrating primer. So, if you're a little bit more on the dry side, they've got this one. This has hyaluronic acid in it, and as you can see, I just got these, so I haven't opened them all up yet. But this one has hyaluronic acid in it, so it's really hydrating, obviously. And you can also already see the formula is different.

This one has a white coloring to it, and it's almost like a moisturizer, but once again, it's really going to fill in fine lines and any pours. That way, when you apply the rest of your makeup, your foundation, your powders, your creams, it goes on nice and smooth. So, this one is the hydrating primer or as they call it in this one, the primerizer plus. Love it. Great name.

SMASHBOX Correct Anti-Redness Primer corrects redness without making you look green.

Now, this is great for those of you that have a really fair complexion and you naturally have a lot of redness in your skin. This is the Photo Finish Correct Anti-Redness primer. So, in color theory, green helps to cancel out red, and you only need a pea-size amount. Here, I'll squeeze out the amount you need. You only need literally like, whoops, yeah, actually, just that amount, just a pea-size amount, and you will blend that out.

So, let me go ahead and blend it out on my skin, and as you can see, it will leave a slight green cast, just a slight. But if you have a lot of redness in your skin, that's going to help to counteract that. Like, look, I don't normally consider myself to have a lot of redness in my skin, but you can already also see on me how it's made a difference. So, that's great. So, you apply that, then apply the rest of your makeup to help color correct. I think that's fantastic.

SMASHBOX Control Mattifying Primer works great on oily skin types without feeling dry or tight.

Next, this is something for my oily skin people. If you have oily skin and you can't use silicone-based primers, you can use this one. This is the mattifying primer. It's called Control, and this one actually has um salicylic acid in it, which is an interesting choice. It also has zinc and witch hazel, but this will mattify and keep you from getting shiny for up to 12 hours. I'm running out of room on my hand here, so once again, you just need a pea-size amount.

You can use a little more than that. I just like, I said, I'm running out of space on my hand, but as you can see, this one instantly mattifies. When you apply, you really do just want to smooth it on. You don't want to like rub it on like I'm doing here. Do as I say, not as I do. You really just want to smooth it across your skin. But you can already see how these have that shiny effect, and this instantly mattifies. And it doesn't feel dry or tight, so it's a really great formula.

SMASHBOX Illuminate Glow Primer gives you that iconic JLo Glow.

The last one, this one is a really fun one, and this one's surprisingly ageless. This is your photo finish illuminate glow primer. This one is, this may be a slightly dated reference, but I think it still works, is this is how you get that JLo glow back in the day when we were all fascinated with how bronzy and highlighted she looked. Jennifer Lopez. This primer was promising that, as you can see, it's got illuminators in it, and just instantly gives your skin that glow. And you put your makeup on top of that, and it just radiates through.

It's just fantastic, so thank you very much Smashbox for sending me all these awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome primers. I'm really excited to have the whole collection. These are all fantastic, and I don't know, they're kind of like Pokemon. You just want to collect them all, and I'm happy to have them all.
