The Bottom 7 Worst Sunscreens
Unappealing White Casts, Greasy Residues, and Unfortunately More!

If you’re like most beauty enthusiasts, the last thing you want is a sunscreen that leaves your skin looking chalky or greasy. Unfortunately, there are many sunscreens on the market that do just that. To help you save time and money, here is a list of the 7 worst sunscreens for those of us who don’t want to look like a greasy snowman in the middle of summer. Let’s count down from awful to worst!
7. ROSE INC Mini Solar Power Luminous SPF 30 Serum
At the bottom of my list is the ROSE INC Mini Solar Power Luminous SPF 30 Serum dropper. Not only does the dropper break quickly, but it can also leave your skin feeling shiny and greasy.
6. Too Faced Born This Way Healthy Glow Spf 30 Moisturizing Skin Tint
This recent beauty release is quite a disappointment. It has a matte finish that is not only cakey (settles in fine lines and wrinkles), but it’s also drying. That’s the opposite of the moisturizing benefit that they promise.
5. Saie Mini Sunvisor Radiant Moisturizing Face Sunscreen SPF 35
Coming in at number 5 is Saie Mini Sunvisor Radiant Moisturizing Face Sunscreen SPF 35. This product can best be described as oily and greasy, leaving skin feeling heavy throughout the day.
4. Supergoop! Play! Mineral SPF Stick
Next up is Supergoop! Play! Mineral SPF Stick at number 4; not only does this one leave a strong white cast on even the lightest complexions, but your skin will feel sticky as well!
3. Dr. Barbara Sturm Sun Drops SPF 50
Dr. Barbara Sturm Sun Drops SPF 50 is the 5th worst offender with its steep $150 price tag for 1oz/30mL – plus it balls up on your skin. For that price tag I expect a flawless application and wear time.
2. Supergoop! Mini (Re) Setting Refreshing Mist SPF 40
Moving up to number 2 we have Supergoop! Mini (Re) Setting Refreshing Mist SPF 40; while this one has great coverage, its pump tends to clog and often breaks when you still have some product left in the bottle. I really hate that Supergoop! is on this list twice, because they really do make a lot of great suncare products.
1. Peter Thomas Roth Max Matte Shine Control Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 45
Last and most certainly least is Peter Thomas Roth Max Matte Shine Control Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 45 – although pricey ($38 for 1oz/30mL), this sunscreen has notorious pilling issues which, let’s face it, nobody wants!
So, there you have it! The 7 worst sunscreens that leave an unappealing white cast and greasy residue. As a beauty-enthusiast and woman of color, I understand how important it is to have a sunscreen that looks good on your skin while still providing adequate protection from UV rays. I compiled this list from reviews on sephora.com. Hopefully, I’ve prevented someone from wasting their money on any of these terrible SPF options.
Thank you for reading! I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
